I know it has been awhile since we’ve updated our blog. We are working on relaunching FLC with a new look and a more updated content. Check back soon!
This morning, President Obama was announced as the winner of the Nobel Peace Prize. At least now there is concrete proof that, to paraphrase Dennis Green, the Nobel Peace Prize is what we thought it was: a mere tool of the extreme left to promote extreme liberal views. The President has done nothing to deserve this “honor”, yet there it is.
To put it in perspective, though, the only other US presidents to win the Nobel were Teddy Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, and Jimmy Carter. Adding President Obama’s name to that list only proves that the only “peace” the Nobel committee acknowledges is peace through a progressive agenda, even when nothing has been accomplished.
Other US presidents that should have been considered:
Ronald Reagan: Ended the Cold War
George W. Bush: Brought most the of world together after 9/11
Of course, liberals/progressives don’t see those as positive things, so that will never happen.
I want to say a special thank you to all the men and women of the US Armed Forces. Our country is the greatest in the world because of what you do. Thank you for your sacrifice, your honor, and for doing those things which make us proud.
I haven’t written in awhile and I really can’t seem to focus on one topic so I decided just to jot down some random thoughts as they come to me about things that have happened recently. Enjoy (or don’t.. as the case may be!)
I was happy to see the turnout at the tea parties. I was even happier that they were peaceful and showed the radical left how you can protest but still be respectful. Spending is way out of hand and those of us who work our butts off to earn a decent living are going to take it in the shorts. It’s nice to see people standing up for themselves and not just take it lying down.
I was very unhappy with the media coverage of the events, though. CNN, who although biased, I never really thought of them as classless until this week. The whole “teabagging” thing was awful. Showing their true colors, I suppose.
Apparently Fly Over Country is filled with extremists. Must be those same bitter people who cling to their guns and religion.
If you are a Christian, and this story doesn’t scare you then something is wrong!
Las Vegas, Nevada has had the most snow in almost thirty years. They received 3.6 inches of snow at McCarran International Airport. It’s only a matter of time that this is blamed on global warming.
From reviewjournal.com:
A “This is the most snow we’ve had in Las Vegas in almost 30 years,”
rare winter storm swept through Southern Nevada Wednesday, dumping the
most snow on the valley in nearly three decades, grounding flights at
the airport, forcing the closure of major highways and closing schools
for today.
said Chris Stachelski, a meteorologist with the National Weather
Service. “It’s a significant historical event”
From The Politico:
Polls showing John McCain tied or even ahead of Barack Obama are stirring angst and second-guessing among some of the Democratic Party’s most experienced operatives, who worry that Obama squandered opportunities over the summer and may still be underestimating his challenges this fall.
“It’s more than an increased anxiety,” said Doug Schoen, who worked as one of Bill Clinton’s lead pollsters during his 1996 reelection and has worked for both Democrats and independents in recent years. “It’s a palpable frustration. Deep-seated unease in the sense that the message has gotten away from them.”
Bwhahahahahaha!! Sorry.. I’ll compose myself..
The media is upset that it’s not a runaway election for The One. Boo Hoo.
Hi. My name is Rick. And I’m a conservative.
I feel like it has come to that. Conservative has almost become a label of shame in most circles. At least, most popular circles. But I wear my conservatism like a badge of honor. I don’t care what anyone thinks of me. I don’t care if a million people read this blog or if no one does. I don’t pander to anyone else and I won’t skew my beliefs or political positions for anyone or anything.
Ok.. now that I got that out of the way. Why am I a conservative?
To me, being a conservative is more than just siding with a particular political party. Actually, I used to identify myself as a Republican, but I no longer do so. Lately, the GOP as a whole has started to drift away from the core beliefs that I thought made up the backbone of the party. Not as drastically as the Democrats have ran from their principles to embrace the far left, but enough to make me hesitate to raise the banner of the GOP for the foreseeable future.
Being a conservative to me comes down to one underlying principle: Personal Freedom. Each person has rights that the Founding Fathers recognized as rights that are granted to us by God, not by some governmental authority. The problem with personal freedom in today’s society is the flip-side of the coin: Personal Responsibility. You can’t have one without the other and it seems that people today do not want to have responsibility for themselves. How else can you explain the success the democratic party has had? (Actually, I know how else, but I’ll go into that as this blog rolls on..)
So why am I blogging about this? Well, quite frankly, I’m tired of hearing what I think from talking heads on TV who claim to know what makes everyone in middle America tick. I enjoy watching Bill O’Reilly, but I cringe every time I hear him say “The folks want..”, “The folks are going to..”, or “The folks won’t..” because I feel like he’s putting words in my mouth. Now, sometimes he says that and he’s right, but often he says it and he’s not. I’m not angry about it. I just don’t like the fact that he assumes he can speak for “the folks”.
So that’s what this blog is about. I, one of “the folks” in “fly over country”, the places where liberals and big media types only see from 30,000 feet in the air or higher, can have a voice because of this wonderful thing we call “The Internet”. I don’t pretend to speak for the millions of Americans who live in “Fly Over Country”. I only speak for myself. Feel free to comment whether you agree or disagree. Lively debate is good for our country.
Come back and see what else I have to say if you’d like. If not, that’s ok. My target audience is very small, just me! If you don’t like it, there are many other sites and blogs to visit. I’m using my personal freedom that was granted to me by God in this way, and you of course have the personal freedom to ignore it.
God bless America!
